A. Greatrix Art Exhibition

We are delighted to again host an exhibition of artwork by local resident Andrew Greatrix.

Born in 1967, Andrew is a self-taught maritime and landscape artist originally from Orkney, whose work is deeply rooted in the rugged beauty of his coastal homeland. Drawing inspiration from masters like Montague Dawson, Troyon, Hopper, and Sisley, he crafts evocative scenes that blend traditional techniques with atmospheric depth. Using a limited, carefully harmonized palette, Greatrix’s paintings capture the drama and emotion of land and sea - from crashing waves to mist-shrouded hills - inviting viewers to feel the raw, timeless essence of nature.

His career has taken him to galleries across London, Paris, and Dublin, where he has exhibited alongside renowned contemporary artists including Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin. Though self-trained, his intuitive grasp of colour, light, and composition has earned him acclaim, with his work celebrated for its ability to balance classic landscape traditions with a modern, emotional resonance. Greatrix continues to draw from Orkney’s wild landscapes, transforming its windswept shores and rolling hills into captivating art that bridges the gap between tradition and innovation.

Commencing in the evening on Saturday 6th December with a small canape reception and running through until Sunday 14th December, we do hope that you will come along and show your support.
